SWAMP STORY

Swamp Story explores falling in love through paintings and comics: loneliness and anticipation, erotic tension, passion, and the difficulties of being together and apart. Its protagonists are swamp creatures whose stems and buds allow them to communicate and breathe underwater. Rooted in personal experience, this fictional world brings together Estonian wetlands and lush southern vegetation.

TRAM PAINTINGS

Das Atelier an der Donau in Austria

During a 2022 residency at Das Atelier an der Donau in Austria, I explored the history of the Ybbs tramway, which closed in 1953. Historical books and photographs provided starting points for the paintings.

Birch Tram, acrylic on canvas, 60x40, 60x80, 60x80, 60x40, 2022.

Passenger Pigeon

The exhibition takes its title from the extinct passenger pigeon, drawing a parallel between the loss of a species and the disappearance of tram networks. Bringing together freely flying birds and rail-bound vehicles, the paintings reflect on the fragility of nature and technology, and the lasting consequences of human decisions.
